Villages at Country Creek: Southwest Florida Executive Golf Done Right

Somewhere between Naples and Fort Myers, tucked off I-75 on Country Creek Drive in Estero, sits one of Southwest Florida's most underrated rounds: the Villages at Country Creek Golf Course. Designed by Gordon G. Lewis in 1988, this par-61 executive layout clocks in at 3,815 yards from the gold tees with a course rating of 61.9 and a slope of 103. Those numbers sound easy. The course has a way of reminding you they're not.
Par 61 Doesn't Mean Par Simple
Seven par 4s and eleven par 3s make up the 18-hole card here. That ratio puts a premium on ball-striking rather than distance. You're not going to overpower this course with a driver. What you will do is hit a lot of mid and short irons into greens, and if your iron play is inconsistent, the scorecard fills up fast.
The front nine plays to a par of 30, the back to 31. The back nine opens up a bit more than the front, and reviews from regulars consistently point to holes 10 through 18 as the stronger stretch. The layout stays wide and walkable throughout, which fits the community character of the place.
Greens here earn consistent praise. They run true and hold their shape well. Tee boxes and fairways are well maintained during peak season (November through April), which is when the course sees the most traffic from residents and outside players alike.
Gordon Lewis's Southwest Florida Touch
Gordon G. Lewis built a long list of courses across Southwest Florida, and Villages at Country Creek shows his approach to executive design. The layout fits naturally into the community footprint without forcing dramatic earthmoving. Holes play through a residential setting, so don't expect wilderness, but the routing keeps things interesting with enough variety in par-3 lengths and par-4 angles to hold your attention for 18.
The course underwent renovations in recent years, and the work shows. The overall condition has improved, and the pace of play moves efficiently given the shorter format.
Who Plays Here and When
The course sits inside the Villages at Country Creek community, so residents have priority access year-round. The pro shop offers outside memberships for non-residents who want access to league play. For everyone else, the course opens to the public from May 1 through October 31, which is Florida's off-season and also the stretch when afternoon rates become genuinely attractive.
Walking is allowed, which sets this course apart from plenty of its peers in the area. If you want to get your steps in while working on the short game, this is a good option. The pro shop is on site, and the clubhouse offers dining, so post-round lunch is easy.
The Numbers at a Glance
From the gold tees: 3,815 yards, par 61, rating 61.9, slope 103. Step back to blue and you're at 3,437 yards with a slope of 100. The white tees measure 3,012 yards with a slope of 94. Three sets of tees give players of different abilities room to find a comfortable challenge. The course plays faster than an 18-hole regulation layout, making it a practical choice for anyone short on time or energy.
Getting There
The course sits at 21131 Country Creek Drive in Estero, FL 33928. The Southwest Florida International Airport is about 15 minutes away, and the beaches at Bonita Springs and Naples are a short drive south. For golfers visiting the area looking to squeeze in a round without committing to a full-length layout, this fits the bill well.
Call the pro shop at (239) 947-3840 for tee times and current rates. Outside play is available May through October.
